The MTT training method that actually works

Playing is not training. Watching videos is not training. MTT poker is learned like a language: automate the fundamentals so your mind is free to decide. Here's the method.

The problem: playing doesn't make you better

Playing tournaments without structured feedback is repeating your mistakes. Watching videos or streams is passive consumption: your brain consolidates nothing without active practice afterward.

Learning science confirms it: without retrieval practice (active recall) and without spaced repetition (reviewing just before you forget), you retain less than 20% of what you studied a week ago.

In poker, that means the next time you have AQ in UTG with 15BB facing a 3-bet, you'll hesitate just like last week.

The solution: a short daily routine, 3 steps

Every day you open the app, your daily coach proposes a session tailored to your level and actual activity. Three steps, twelve minutes:

1

Warm-up

5 review hands with spaced repetition (Leitner system). Ranges, odds, push/fold thresholds. Whatever you're about to forget, right on time. Untimed.

2

Daily concept

A new or deeper topic from your 8-week launch plan: BB defense, board textures, postflop play, ICM. Spiral progression: each topic returns, harder than before.

3

Focused practice

A drill targeting your current weak spot, detected by your real-hand analysis. If you're calling outside pot odds on the turn, today's drill is exactly about that. Surgical work, not generic.

Why does it work? The science behind the method

Spaced repetition (Leitner)

The Leitner system sorts questions into boxes based on how well you answer them. A correct answer moves up (you see it less often). A wrong answer moves down (you see it more often). The result: each question appears exactly when you're about to forget it — the peak memorization efficiency point on Ebbinghaus's forgetting curve.

Retrieval practice

Actively answering questions (not re-reading, not watching a video) is the most evidence-backed study technique in existence. Recalling strengthens memory far more than re-exposing yourself to the content. That's why the Trainer quizzes you — it doesn't show you ranges to stare at.

Fluency (accuracy + speed)

At the table, you don't have 30 seconds to calculate pot odds. The calculation needs to be automatic. The Trainer tracks your fluency: it's not enough to get it right, you need to get it fast. Like multiplication tables in grade school: first you understand, then you automate.

Real leak diagnosis

The leak detector analyzes the hands you manually enter and detects recurring patterns: calls outside odds, overly tight folds from the big blind, insufficient 3-bets. It then redirects you to the specific drill that fixes that leak. Training becomes personalized and surgical.

The weekend: a different rhythm

Saturday and Sunday, the coach switches format:

After the 8 weeks

The launch plan ends; the training doesn't. Spaced repetition keeps reactivating what you're starting to forget. The leak detector keeps working on your new hands. The Saturday/Sunday cycle repeats every week. The tool is built to stay with you as long as you play, not two months and goodbye.

I don't know where to start?

No problem. When you open the app, you answer 4 questions about your level and goals. You can also take the placement test (21 questions) for a precise evaluation. From there, every day you get the right session for you.

Does it work if I only play live?

Yes. Manual input mode is designed to log a live tournament hand in under 15 seconds. The math (pot odds, ICM, push/fold) is identical. And daily training applies equally to live and online play.

Is this a solver?

No, and that's not the goal. Solvers (~$100/mo) assume you already have the fundamentals down. This method builds those fundamentals. Once they're solid, a solver will be far more useful. Without basic automation, a solver is like reading Kant without speaking German.
